General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

The General Data Protection Regulation is a new law that came into effect from 25th May.

The law applies to all organisations that handle or use personal data and this includes schools. The law means that organisations must have your consent to use or share your personal information. As a school we hold personal data for operational purposes but do not share this with or allow it to be used by a third party organisations that we employ to store this information (e.g. Arbor). All personal data on the school operating information management system Arbor is held securely.

The implementation of the law requires all organisations to review and amend policies, where appropriate, in relation to data protection and revised procedures will be issued when required.

St Martin's Academy is part of the North West Academies Trust. All schools within the Trust operate within the same policies and use the same procedures in relation to GDPR. The appointed Data Protection Officer (DPO) for NWAT is Steve Docking, CEO of North West Academies Trust. Should you have any questions in relation to data protection please feel free to contact the Head of School directly.
