Ngate Orienteering

Straight from the off the children have been active this week.

On Monday morning Northgate travelled to Delamere forest to put all their navigation skills to the test as they took on the Level 3 Orienteering Course. All of the children embraced the challenge and in groups showed great determination, confidence and teamwork to find all of the controls hidden around the forest. All of the children in Northgate finished in less than 50 minutes. Eastgate followed this on Tuesday with the same challenge, and were hoping to better their performance from the previous year after some of the groups ended up running nearly 3km more than the required distance. This year, I am glad to say, was a great success with only one group getting slightly lost along the way. Again the children showed great navigation skills and were also able to complete the course in fewer than 50 minutes. These trips are not possible without the help and support of the parent volunteers and staff members who helped on both days and we are very grateful to everyone that completed the course with us, we hope to see you all again next year!

Egate Orienteering

On Thursday a group of 13 individuals visited Ellesmere Primary for the annual NWAT swimming gala. This was a mixture of both year 3 and 4 in a series of relays and individual disciplines, everyone who took part gave all of the races their best efforts and showed great sportsmanship throughout. The team did consistently well throughout the gala and as a result ended up winning overall, a very good achievement with such close competition from the other schools involved. The medals and trophies were presented to the children by Freya Andersonn, a name that you will almost definitely be seeing in future Commonwealth and Olympic competitions, as she works her way up the swimming rankings in the UK, a great role model for all the children to aspire to.

Finally we would like to thank FOSMA for all the events that helped to raise the money for the inflatable football pitch. It arrived this week and Eastgate were really excited to put it to use in their PE lesson on Thursday, playing both dodgeball and football. Everyone was involved and had great fun in the arena; we can’t wait to put it into more use in both PE and playtimes.
