Netball League

In preparation for the key stage two orienteering courses next week, both Northgate and Eastgate have been busy building their skills to ensure they are fully set to take on the course at Delamere. Northgate have also been working on their fitness. They took on the twelve minute run, pushing themselves to see how many lengths of the netball court they could do in the time given. Alongside this they took on a strength circuit. The children will need to use their endurance next week to ensure they can run between each control keeping a steady pace. Eastgate on the other hand, were working on the more technical aspect of orienteering, using a map of the school to create their own course. Thinking about the positioning of controls and how the course would come together once they had decided on the route. We are all very much looking forward to the two mornings of orienteering next week and would like to thank all our parent volunteers in advance for helping out.

PE mix

On Thursday, St Martin’s hosted a mini round robin for the year 3/4 netball league. The first game was against Tattenhall. St Martin’s got off to a flying start scoring 5 goals in the first 8 minutes, and this was followed by two more goals in the second half from Isabella making her debut in the netball team resulting in a final score 7-1. The second game was more of a close match. In the first half we were up 3-1 but Tarvin came fighting back to equalise in the second half leaving the final score 4-4.

Elsewhere in PE this week all classes have been improving their hockey skills. As we draw closer to the end of term, the children have begun to combine the skills they have learnt over the weeks in preparation for playing modified and small sided games. Bridgegate started off with 3V3 games this week and improved their game play with each match.

As well as the orienteering next week we also look forward to a Key Stage 2 swimming gala hosted by Ellesmere Primary.
