Order, Order!

Watergate have had a wonderful week that kick started with us getting creative in art.

The children were thrilled at the opportunity to get their hands messy and explore finger painting. The made the most fabulous dragon eyes that we are proudly displaying in our classroom- well done Watergate!

Watergate have been exploring patterns this week and had fun creating their own patterns with the various resources in the classroom, including themselves. and collated all their creations on a PicCollage. As the week progressed the children used counters, 2D and 3D shapes to investigate patterns further and applied their understanding to solve problems mentally- very impressive.

Watergate started SPAG sessions this week and discovered that a noun is a naming word. To develop their understanding, the children organised various nouns in to three categories Person, Place and Thing, before touching on the capitalisation of proper nouns.

Similarly, the children enjoyed investigating alphabetical order and working hard, in their house teams to order words based on their first and second letters. Watergate have utilised their new skills to access a dictionary and thesaurus in literacy lessons- super stars.

The following games and videos are a great way to consolidate your child’s new knowledge in both Maths and SPAG,
