Please note, there are spoilers if you choose to read on before Mother's Day!

Watergate have had a very creative week that concluded with the preparations for Mothers Day. The children exercised their understanding of acrostic poems and key features to write a Mother’s Day poem and a lovely verse in their homemade cards- well done Watergate.

On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome Mrs Wynne into St Martin’s and enjoyed an afternoon of outdoor learning and art activities. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon Mrs Wynne, we look forward to seeing you next week and getting creative outside. Please may you ensure your child comes to school in school uniform next week, with a spare set of old clothes to change into so that if they get wet or messy they can change back into their uniform - thank you.

Maths was focused on fractions this week and Watergate worked hard to find a fraction of a shape and number. As the week progressed we looked at SATs questions that include frections, to ensure the children can confidently implement their skills. The following website has a collection of games that are a great way to consolidate your child’s learning.

Fractions & Decimals Games

Watergate have been exploring Growth Mindset in PSHE this week and were able to distinguish between a growth and fixed mindset before discussing how to ensure they have a positive, productive outlook. The children are beginning to understand and identify when they are demonstrating a growth mindset, which is a brilliant start.

The following video would be lovely to share with your child as you discuss the importance of having a growth mindset.

Have a wonderful weekend.

The Year 2 Team.
