School Report!

An explosive week for Watergate as they returned to school to discover our classroom had been intruded.

There were sticky footprints, porridge oats scattered everywhere and graffiti all over the walls- what a mess.

Keen to solve the mystery, the children put on CSI overalls and used iPads to photograph and record the evidence. They labelled and described what they had found and presented a PicCollage of evidence to PC Bartlett, in the hope he would be able to help catch the intruder.

Watergate’s efforts didn’t stop there. Their determination to solve the mystery led to the production of a news report. Work in house teams, the children wrote excellent reports of the incident before using green screen technology to film and edit their broadcast and should be so proud of their work- well done Watergate.

As the week progress, the children explored the features of a newspaper report and used the work they had done verbally, in house teams, to influence their independent writing.

In Maths this week Watergate investigated measurement of length and exercised their measuring skills using a ruler, a meter stick and a trundle wheel and recorded their findings with the abbreviations mm, cm and m.

The following games will be a great way to consolidate your child’s learning;

In addition, using a ruler to measure length at home is an excellent way to support your child’s skills.

We will continue with measurement next week exploring grams, kilograms, millilitres, litres and Celsius.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year 2 Team.
