On Fire!

Watergate have had a lovely week and really enjoyed sharing Christmas Dinner with their friends and families.

Thank you for all parents, grandparents and carers, who came to kick start the festivities with us.

Implementing their understanding of a timeline, Watergate learned and sequenced the events of The Great Fire of London, discovering that it started in a bakery on Pudding Lane and burned for four days.

This animation shows the events that took place over those four days: The Great Fire of London (YouTube:Adverts)

The children explored what Londoners learned from the events and concluded that fire awareness and safety has improved, impacting on how we approach things today. We are looking forward to welcoming in Fire Fighters from Chester Fire and Rescue Service next week.

Looking at paintings from various artists, the children were able to get a feel of what you would see, hear and smell if you were a child witnessing the Great Fire of London unfold. This allowed the children to write fabulous diary entries detailing the events and their thoughts and feelings – super writing Watergate!

Watergate have been busy creating 3D Tudor Houses with Miss Walker in Art. Despite the project being fiddly, the children haven’t given up, resulting in wonderful paper models. They also continued to finish their collage pictures, which will look lovely on our display.

Watergate exercised their understanding of division this week, implementing their chicken and egg method to solve many calculations – well done Watergate. It would be beneficial for your child to practice these skills at home.

Have a lovely weekend.
