Be Safe, Be Seen!

road safety

This week it is Road Safety Week and Watergate have enjoyed learning how to stay safe outside of school.

The children really enjoyed walking around Hoole and exercising their  Green Cross Code- well done Watergate.

The children worked hard, in house teams, to investigate London in the past and compared it to our capital city in the present realising how much it has changed. Similarly, the children found out about the common jobs in the 17th century such as a chimney sweep, an apothecary, a blacksmith and a chandler. As the week progressed the children explored the events of The Great Fire of London- super work Watergate.

The following video would be excellent to share with your child and consolidate their understanding of the scale of The Great Fire of London before we write diary entries, next week.

3D shapes

We continued our learning of shape to identify and name 3D shapes and their properties. The children worked hard in house teams to investigate 3D shapes in their environment and we progressed our learning by looking at nets of 3D shapes. The following games are a great way to consolidate your child’s learning;

In religious education Watergate continued their learning of Judaism and celebrated the Passover. We discovered that during Passover, many jewish people avoide eating food containing chametz, (food containing wheat) and were delighted at the opportunity to make gluten free banana bread.
