Shaping Up!


Watergate have been busy learners this week.

The children continued their exploration of poetry features, by investigating personification, rhyme and similes before implementing their new skills to create shape poems.

Similarly, Watergate revisited some traditional nursery rhymes and enjoyed performing these with expression and actions, drawing attention to key features and words used by poets.

The following games are a fun way to consolidate the children’s new skills

In maths, Watergate have been consolidating their knowledge of 2D shapes and extended their learning to investigate irregular shapes and symmetry- well done Watergate. The children have really enjoyed learning practically this week and used pin geoboards to create and describe the properties of 2D shapes, next week we will explore 3D shapes.

In Religious Studies, Watergate have enjoyed learning about the Jewish celebration Hanukah and created an acrostic poem to display their new understanding- well done Watergate.
