Watergate have had a very productive week that started with a very successful independent writing activity.

The children implemented their understanding of instructional texts and the important features- wonderful writers!

As the week progressed, the children explored the features and layout of explanation texts and are working toward writing their own. Using the following picture Watergate worked in house teams, to explain how to use The Teacher Pleaser- super.

Next week we will write our explanations and invent our own machines, so get thinking… Who and how does your machine please?

Watergate have started to learn cursive handwriting and practised writing descending letters. Please work with your child to exercise these letters when writing at home because joining up letters is a Year Two Writing Standard.

Maths has been fun this week as the children have learned number bonds to ten. twenty and one hundred. We used the following song to help memorise our learning.

In art this week the children investigated cubism and abstract portraits by Picasso. Inspired by the following video Pablo Picasso, the children used magazines to make wonderful, Picasso inspired portraits- don’t they look wonderful?

The children also continued their exploration of the Spanish artist Joan Miro and created some fabulous imaginative art with Miss Walker- well done Watergate.

Have a fabulous weekend.
