Brushing Away the Cobwebs!

Shipgate have had a wonderful week doing everything wellbeing.

They kicked off the week by designing their topic front covers, using brusho paint to paint our world using different shades of blue and green.

As well as this, we thought about what makes us happy, what it means to be happy, and how we can make others around us happy. The children took inspiration from ‘The Pig of Happiness,’ who aims to lift the spirits of all around him.

Fruit and veg trying

The children also enjoyed trying different fruits and vegetables. They thought about how they could describe their taste and texture and what star rating they would give them out of 5. Every child said there was at least 1 fruit or vegetable they hadn’t tried before, and have found a new love for - it was brilliant to see their faces when trying the different foods!

To finish off wellbeing week, the whole of KS2 went on a super fun - slightly wet - trip to Llandudno. Despite the weather trying to dampen spirits the children had the best time making pebble houses on the beach, playing with their friends and walking up the Great Orme - which was a steep challenge! Overall, we had a wonderful time.

Bar model maths

On top of all of this, the children have also been learning: about the reasons behind bonfire night, how to devise one and two step word problems from a completed bar model, and about the true meaning of christmas to them and christians.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

They Year 5 Team.
