'An Outstanding School' – Ofsted June 2015   Read the report here

This week Northgate have continued to explore learning about a different culture, comparing it to their own.

They applied their knowledge of Dreamtime and creation and were encouraged to incorporate as many elements of literacy that they have learned this term when writing their versions, demonstrating just how much progress they have made in a short time and produced some exceptional pieces of creative writing, well done Northgate, you should be very proud.

They have also used their artistic flair to create self-portraits in an Aboriginal style, they consolidated their knowledge of drawing a portrait and thinking about proportion when accurately placing their features as well as learning why Aborigines use that particular style and the choice of colours.

Northgate have also completed their informal assessments in Reading, Spelling Punctuation and Grammar, Maths and Science. They have worked incredibly hard all we, the children along with the teaching team have worked together to ensure that it has been a relaxed environment and we have gone through the questions together afterwards so the children have a greater understanding. A huge achievement, well done.

Considering mindfulness, the children have explored feelings in a jar and how important it is to communicate our thoughts so they don’t get too big and will be introduced to the ‘drop-box’ in Northgate, where they can download any thoughts that they would like to be shared or stored safely. The children will be designing and making a Quilt of Qualities next term which will represent the positive qualities each of them bring to Northgate.  Internet Safety has also had huge importance within their learning this week, they have revisited zip it, block it, flag it! The children demonstrated their prior knowledge of the internet and learned from each other the different apps and forms of social media that is available. They also learned the SMART approach which they can see here.

Rehearsals for their end of term Harvest festival have began this week, please can you ensure they practise their lines as much as possible and we will support them in school too.

A fantastic week Northgate, well done.

The Year 3 Team.
