'An Outstanding School' – Ofsted June 2015   Read the report here

Labelling: Please ensure that all clothes are labelled as well as book bags and shoes. This is to ensure that your uniform can be identified if it gets misplaced.

Reading: The reading books provided are only picture books. Please focus on predicting what comes next and the emotions of the characters when reading this week. If the children reply 'I don’t know' give your suggestions to support, modelling the process for next time. We understand that the children may be very tired and if reading themselves becomes challenging daily, please ensure that you log the stories you enjoy together throughout the week.

Phonics: Phonics sheets need to be completed daily where possible to support your child with the consolidation of the daily phonics lesson.

Names: Please work with your child on a daily basis to ensure that they are writing their name correctly. In class they complete a daily dot label of their name to support this. This includes having a capital letter to begin and lower case for the rest of their name.

Reading: The reading books provided are picture only books. These books allow you to build a narrative with your child and foster a love of story. Please use them to become familiar with the process of sharing a school book each night and record your child's reading in their diary. You can talk about what is happening in each picture to begin with and then perhaps venture into talking about the main characters and if relevant feelings and motivations. Each time you read please record it in your child’s reading record.

Phonics: Phonics sheets should be completed daily where possible. Each activity consolidates learning from our class based phonics sessions.
