'I' Can"!

addition 1

We have had an explosive week in Newgate.

We have learnt all about Bonfire night and the traditions that we carry out. We welcomed a parent visitor who explained about the story of Guy Fawkes and their own family traditions at Bonfire night. We even tasted a toffee apple!

This week has been filled with art fun as we painted fireworks, craft made bonfires and used shapes to create a firework rocket! The children used shapes and colours for a purpose and the outcomes are going to be displayed on our topic wall! Outstanding effort from everyone!

In our learning this week, we have been focusing on addition. We have introduced the addition and equals sign and the children are learning to read number sentences using mathematical language.

Miss Humphreys has worked with the children focusing on high frequency words. We will be continuing to focus on these in both reading and writing. This weeks words have been 'I' and 'can'.

Many thanks,

Miss Bowler, Mrs Thombs, Miss Roberts, Miss Humphreys and Mrs Bebbington.

Vicky would like to introduce herself in the blog:

Dear Parents and Carers,

My name is Miss Humphreys and I am a Student Teacher in Newgate class.  I will be working in Newgate class from the 5th November until the 8th February.  I am currently studying for my BA (Hons) Early Years- Primary Education with QTS degree at the University of Chester and am now in my final year.

As an Associate Teacher, I will be working closely with Miss Bowler to plan and prepare lessons to teach to children in the class.  Prior to working in Miss Bowler’s classroom, I have gained experience in other schools, working in Foundation Stage and KS1.

I am really looking forward to working in St Martins Academy over the next 12 weeks.

Yours faithfully,

Miss Humphreys.
