Christmas Countdown.

This week in Newgate we have fully embraced Christmas.

The children have begun to write lists about what they would like for Christmas with a view to writing some special letters next week!

The children have taken time to use their phonics to sound out their chosen items and it has been really special seeing them do this independently. Well-done Newgate!

The children have continued to apply their skills, as they each became 'Stickman' authors. They created a book with a front cover and writing and images inside. This made the team burst with pride and this will be included in a display for next half term in celebration of their efforts.

Writing EYFS

Christmas has got us very excited not only about performing our production of ‘Christmas Counts’ but also creating many different decorations. Newgate created some popcorn tinsel and some very glittery wooden decorations to decorate a small tree in Hoole Methodist Church. We have also created a little surprise for you special people at home to receive at the end of term…

Finally this week we have looked at the Christmas tradition of creating a Christingle. We have learnt about the traditional Christingle and what each part represents, however this year we have slightly changed the dried fruit for some funky pom-poms to represent the four seasons. What a fun week we have had in Newgate, lets keep it up for our last full week before Christmas!

Many thanks,

Miss Bowler, Miss Howarth and Mrs Thombs.
