Numicon Bodies!

W5 photo

Newgate have been busy learning more about the number system!

This week in Newgate, we have been working on our recognition of numbers and we have been dancing and singing along to many different number rhymes in class. Following this, Newgate began to recognise numbers through the use of Numicon shapes. The children used these shapes to design and create a Numicon version of themselves using different shapes to represent different parts of their body… we had a little giggle as most of them looked a lot like an alien!

Following last week's focus on bodies, Newgate have continued their interest in Sam the Skeleton. The children have investigated a variety of x-rays looking at what bones look like when they are broken. In their choice time, they had the opportunity to complete a task with Miss Howarth to create a moving skeleton from the Funny Bones stories. The children each carefully cut out the skeleton and then pinned the parts together. It was lovely to see how well the children concentrated on the task and the wonderful discussions they had about their learning.

Please refer to the homework blog and return by Monday.

Many thanks,

Miss Bowler, Miss Howarth and Mrs Thombs.
