Great Inventions.

We have had a fantastic week in Eastgate this week.

In maths, the children have been building on their knowledge of fractions. They have looked at fractions of amounts, have solved word problems with fractions and have also learnt how to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator!

During literacy lessons, the children have planned and written a set of instructions for their own inventions. They have also used feedback to edit and improve their instructional writing.

In topic, as Eastgate have been looking at inventors, they had a go at being inventors themselves and produced their very own; they were phenomenal, we had so many different varieties. The children also had another fantastic enterprise lesson this week, where they looked at the importance of costing and advertisements.

Within science, they learnt all about levers, pulleys and gears and went on to create their very own lever mechanisms!

The children were also very lucky to be invited to the Hammond school on Thursday afternoon, where they had the opportunity to watch a performance of Peter Pan & Hook. It was a lovely afternoon out and the children all thoroughly enjoyed the show!

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

The Year 4 Team.
