This week 2

We want to start by saying how excited we are to be moving up to Shipgate with the children, to continue their St Martins journey.

When we moved up on Thursday, the children planned what they wanted to learn about next year, for us to use when planning the children’s units so it is as child centred as possible. The children also thought about what behaviour management strategies they wanted to use - and have come up with either a shooting star or ice cream theme!

In their maths work this week, the children have been consolidating their understanding of the long multiplication method, as well as solving money problems, in a real life context. As part of their English, following on from setting descriptions last week, the children wrote scary settings. They thought hard about creating tension and suspense by using short sentences to make the pace of their writing faster and more intense.

In their topic work, the children have explored what British towns and cities were called when the Romans were around, using maps. The children produced a fact sheet with the different names of the towns and cities on it, in both English and Latin. As well as this, in their RE work, the children learnt about Psalms and songs in The Bible, and in pairs, they transformed one genre into another, to show they understood what they read, and that they can write in different styles.

Finally, we want to say a massive thank you to all the parents who helped out, on Tuesday at the Cheshire Show. A great day was had by all, and the children really enjoyed themselves.

Have a great weekend,

The Year 4 Team.
