This week the children have been enjoying learning through completing Christmas activities!

In English, they have been researching Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrations in different countries around the world and writing about the different traditions. Aside from this though, they have also been trying hard to draft and redraft their stories, using all the key sentence types, grammar and punctuation features learnt this half term.

In maths, the children have been revisiting all things learnt over the half term, and internalising what they have learnt. From estimating the answer to a calculation and using inverse operations to check answers and solve missing number problems, to finding the effect of dividing a one- or two-digit number by 10 and 100, and identifying the value of the digits in the answer as ones, tenths and hundredths. As well as solving number problems with negative numbers, and even learning about ‘factor pairs’ – well done Eastgate!

This week, the children also enjoyed a Spanish lesson, taught by Miss Bonilla, who usually works with Watergate and Bridgegate. The children first discussed with her what Spanish phrases they already knew before moving onto practise greeting each other in Spanish and learning a Spanish Christmas song.

The children have also been busy practising their singing ready for the number of Christmas performances we have coming up next week! They are doing superbly well.

Have a wonderful weekend.

The Year 4 Team.

Please work with your child to learn the line they will need to speak in church on Tuesday evening.
