Heavy & Light.

Bridgegate have had a great week and have been busy getting to grips with non fiction texts, weight, capacity and creation stories.

On Tuesday, the children were introduced to the vocabulary 'heavy and light' and investigated how to distinguish between heavy and light objects. As the week progressed the children used scales to weigh objects in non-standard and standard units before applying all they had learned to Little Chefs. Bridgegate weighed out all the ingredients to make moon rock cakes and followed a recipe to make space punch . They shared all they had made with Alan and Jean on Thursday afternoon- well done Bridgegate!

The following games are a brilliant way to consolidate and extend your child’s new knowledge and understanding. In addition, you could help your child’s exercise their skills practically by baking or weighing things at home. If you make anything tasty please tweet us a picture @StMartinsChest1- we’d love to see your creations.

The children have been looking closely at non-fiction texts, focusing on the features of non chronological reports. Working hard, in house teams, the children used their new knowledge of these text types to internalise, retell and write a non chronological report all about Earth- a fantastic achievement.

In Religious and Cultural Studies Bridgegate have been exploring Creation Stories. Last week we looked at The Christian Creation Story, using the following videos to help consolidate our knowledge. The Creation of the World (adverts)

This week Bridgegate looked at the Hindu Creation Story and enjoyed working as a house team to sequence and retell it- well done Bridgegate!

Have a restful weekend.
