The Year One team have been delighted to welcome the lovely new class, Bridgegate, back to school for a fun filled term!

The children have settled in exceptionally well and have adopted the new routines, rules and expectations of Bridgegate almost immediately.

This week, the children kick started their current topic, which falls under the Transdiciplinary Theme ‘How We Organise Ourselves’, by exploring a mysterious egg that had arrived at the front of school in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The children were delighted to investigate the arrival of the egg and to follow, made a variety of high quality predictions, Pic Collages and created a 3D egg during Art and Design. In addition, the whole class composed a visual sequence of the event that had occurred, accompanied by vibrant actions, which the children later went onto recalling independently when writing their own recount texts.

In Physical Education this week, the Bridgegate have thrived on getting active outside of the classroom and have also experienced an exciting session of Stretch and Grow, whereby Bridgegate successfully supported one another as a whole class to develop their balance and coordination skills.

Bridgegate have ended their week on a high by earning all of their marbles in the jar! This has meant the children earned Golden Time Friday afternoon, whereby they were enthused to further develop their abstract, 3D egg creations, using vibrant cotton wool and crafts.

Thank you for being so supportive of the children’s transition into Bridgegate for their first week back to school. I hope you have a restful and enjoyable weekend as always. The Year One Team look forward to seeing everyone on Monday morning for another exciting week in Bridgegate!

Take care,

The Year One Team.
