Pointing out Danger.

'Twas the last week before Christmas...

This week has been an extra special week in Bridgegate, as the children have had the opportunity to participate in additional, extra curricular and off-site activities during the run up to Christmas!

To kick start the week, Bridgegate enjoyed a Netball assembly delivered by England Netballer, Laura Malcolm.

Within the Masterclass, all the boys and girls developed their understanding of Laura’s journey to success and really enjoyed discovering more about her dedication and commitment to the sport, Netball.

Within the week, Bridgegate had the opportunity to visit the Chester Forum Theatre to watch the wonderful 'Cinderella' alongside their friends in Watergate, which left all the children feeling extremely festive!

In addition, Bridgegate also visited Danger Point this week, where the boys and girls learnt all about everyday dangers they may encounter at home or at school. The children especially enjoyed taking part in the interactive learning opportunities led by the staff at Danger Point and gained a greater understanding of the steps necessary to take, in order to prevent dangerous situations from escalating. These included not walking too close to building sites, becoming lost in a shop and what to do, dealing with floods and strong currents at sea, walking along train platforms, encountering strong chemicals in sheds and garages, crossing busy roads on foot, on bicycles and scooters and dealing with in-house dangers.

As Bridgegate's current topic theme, 'Old and New Toys', draws to an end, the children have each designed and created a personalised sock puppet in Art and Design this week. Each child has taken great care in creating and decorating their intended designs with different patterns, multi-coloured felt and lots of buttons! It has also been lovely to see the boys and girls excited to present to their finished sock puppets to their friends and play with them, during their independent time.

We hope you have a restful Christmas break, spent with your families and enjoy every minute of your time off.

For those attending, enjoy the children’s Christmas performance next week and to everyone, The Year One Team look forward to seeing you in the new year!

All the best.
