Celebrating Difference.

Bridgegate have had another busy week.

The children continued to apply all of their maths strategies to solve multiplication and division word problems. Using the R.U.C.S.A.C method the children read the word problem, underlined the key information, chose the correct operation, solved the problem before writing their answer and checking their work- excellent work Bridgegate.

The following games will help your child to consolidate their new skills.

Bridgegate enjoyed sharing David Mckee’s story Elmer. Working hard to identify unique qualities about themselves and others, the children wrote a wonderful piece of writing detailing what makes them special.

As the week progressed the children expressed empathy towards Elmer and recapped on how important it is to respect others and celebrate our differences. Bridgegate came to the conclusion that we should treat others how we wish to be treated.

On Thursday, the children got messy in Art and Design. Inspired by David Mckee’s illustrations the children designed and brought to life their own elephant creations. Some children decorated their elephant with flowers, others with rinbow stripes. All were unique and reminded the children that they are all special- a wonderful message to reinforce.

If you would like to share the story at home the link is to the animated version of the original book.

Bridgegate and the team at St Martin’s were sad to say goodbye to Mr Evans this week and want to say a big thank you for all his hard work and his contribution to the children’s development. We wish him the best of luck in the future. Have a lovely weekend.
